CEIAG & Post-16 Pathways
Careers education, information, advice and guidance for young people aged 14–19, with structured planning into post-16 destinations.
Who it's for
Young people in KS4 and post-16, including those out of mainstream school, NEET or at risk of becoming NEET, and those with EHCPs requiring preparation-for-adulthood outcomes.
How it works
We deliver 1:1 careers guidance and post-16 transition planning aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks and the statutory CEIAG duty. Sessions are practical: realistic destination mapping, college and apprenticeship applications, interview preparation, and the soft skills that determine whether a young person actually starts and stays in their next step.
What the placement looks like
- 01
Discover
Strengths, interests and constraints mapped with the young person — not done to them.
- 02
Plan
Two or three realistic destination routes identified with timelines and entry requirements.
- 03
Apply
Applications, personal statements and supporting evidence completed alongside the young person.
- 04
Bridge
Interview rehearsal, taster visits and a named contact through the first half-term of the new setting.
Outcomes we work towards
- A realistic, written post-16 plan with named destinations and back-up options
- Submitted college, sixth-form or apprenticeship applications
- Interview readiness and travel/independence rehearsal where needed
- Preparation-for-adulthood evidence ready for annual review
Evidence we share with commissioners
- Written post-16 plan with destinations and contingencies
- Application tracker (college / sixth-form / apprenticeship)
- Gatsby Benchmark coverage notes
- Preparation-for-adulthood outcome log for annual review
When this isn't the right fit
Pupils below KS4 — careers-related learning is woven through our other services rather than delivered as a standalone CEIAG package.
