1:1 Alternative Provision
Bespoke one-to-one provision for young people who cannot access mainstream school.
Who it's for
Children and young people Y3–Y13 who are out of school or at risk of permanent exclusion, often with complex SEMH or SEND profiles.
How it works
A fully personalised timetable delivered by a single core tutor with subject specialists where needed. We work to the young person's pace, sensory profile and emotional capacity, with clear academic milestones agreed with the commissioner.
What the placement looks like
- 01
Day 1–3
Placement lead assigned. Initial scoping call with the commissioner and family.
- 02
Week 1
Tutor matched on profile, not availability. Risk assessment and learning plan agreed.
- 03
Week 2
First sessions delivered, often in the home or a neutral community space.
- 04
Ongoing
Fortnightly progress notes. Half-termly review with all parties.
Outcomes we work towards
- Re-establish a predictable learning rhythm
- Restore academic confidence and identity
- Evidence engagement for EHCP review or panel
- Prepare for reintegration where appropriate
Evidence we share with commissioners
- Session-by-session learning logs
- Half-termly progress report
- EHCP Section F outcome tracker
When this isn't the right fit
Pupils who can safely access a group setting — a PRU or AP school is usually a better fit.
